Puppy Contract

Your puppy is guaranteed to be healthy at time of pick-up and is guaranteed for one year against genetic defects except teeth/bite. Remember: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Select your veterinarian today and put your new puppy under his or her care.

Terms of this guarantee are as follows:

  • Buyer must have puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within four business days of receiving puppy. (Please have a veterinarian appointment scheduled prior to picking up your puppy.) If the puppy is found to have a serious condition, Buyer must notify Breeder immediately. Buyer must return the puppy to Breeder at Buyer's expense with vet records. Once Breeder's vet confirms the findings, Breeder will replace the puppy with a similar puppy as one becomes available.

  • Ear mites, worms, and other parasites are not serious health problems if treated. Even though your puppy has been dewormed regularly, please keep in mind that, while very unlikely, your puppy may still have some worms. All puppies are susceptible to having worms. Breeder does not guarantee against coccidia (a common intestinal bacteria) which can also be easily treated.

  • Buyer agrees to follow the vaccination schedule listed on the Health Recommendations page. Buyer also agree to maintain the puppy's health in good condition by providing health examinations annually and as needed, heartworm prevention, good quality nutrition (including giving NuVet Plus and preferably feeding a raw diet as laid out on Health Recommendations page) and any other procedures necessary to assure good health.

  • In the unlikely event of death of the puppy within the first week, Buyer must have followed the vet's suggested course of treatment and Buyer must have a necropsy done by a qualified pathologist and send results to Breeder. If the results show a defect or condition that originated before the puppy left Breeder, Breeder will replace the puppy with a similar puppy when it becomes available. If the death is caused by circumstances that occurred after Buyer received the puppy, Breeder is not liable.

  • FIVE YEAR MVD AND SM GUARANTEE for Cavaliers: In the event of the death of the puppy within five years from its birth due to MVD or SM, Breeder will credit Buyer in full toward another Cavalier puppy. Buyer will have an autopsy performed by a licensed pathologist within 24 hours of death to determine the exact cause of death. Buyer will provide a certified copy of the death certificate, as well as all medical records, to Breeder. If an illness, an accident, nutritional deficiencies, over-vaccination, toxicity, trauma, or neglect is found to play a role in the demise of the Cavalier in any manner or fashion, Buyer agrees this guarantee is null and void.

  • If Buyer lives in an apartment complex, or any other residence that may restrict pets, Buyer is affirming that permission has been received from the proper authority for this puppy to live in this home.

  • Buyer certifies by signing this contract that they will abide by the following list: that the puppy will be confined by a fenced yard or receive adequate supervision when outside, will have adequate exercise, nutritious food, constant access to fresh water, be maintained at a healthy weight, will receive all necessary healthcare, and will not be left alone for long periods of time on a regular basis.

  • Buyer agrees that if it becomes necessary to re-home this puppy, ownership shall revert to Breeder on a surrender basis (no refund), including all AKC rights. At no time may this puppy be resold or given to a third party without agreement from Breeder.

  • Buyer acknowledges that puppy must be picked up within one week of “Ready to Go Home” date unless otherwise arranged. If puppy needs to be boarded after that date, it can be arranged with Breeder in advance at the cost of $50/week.

  • Breeding quality is guaranteed for 1 year only for puppies placed with full AKC rights.

  • If puppy is being sold with full registration and will be used for breeding:

    • Buyer agrees not to breed to any female that is in her first heat.

    • Buyer will assure both the male and the female have OFA heart and eye clearances and DNA testing before breeding.

    • Buyer will place any puppies produced with limited registration only, unless thorough screening of the puppy purchaser has been accomplished.

    • Buyer agrees to be responsible for any/all puppies that are produced, as needed, for the lifetime of the puppies.

  • In order for this contract to be valid, Buyer must retain all records/proof that Buyer has taken puppy to the vet within four business days, followed the guidelines laid out in this contract, and that Buyer has followed up on any health care issues since receiving puppy.

  • Breeder acknowledges the receipt of a non-refundable deposit in the amount entered below toward the purchase of the puppy described below. Breeder will transfer ownership of the said puppy for the amount entered below, less the deposit, to be paid in full before the puppy can be transported. Breeder will accept cash, cashier's checks, money orders, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or Paypal. Money must be sent as if sending to friends or family and not for goods and services as that charges me fees. If you prefer to send for “goods and services” to ensure buyer protection, please add 4% to cover fees. No personal checks or credit cards, please. Final payment must be received at least two days prior to scheduled shipping date, or upon personal pick-up.

Do not submit contract before communicating with us and receiving confirmation that we have received your deposit!

Thank you!
